Thoughts On 2009
December 29th 2009 -
Well it’s been a good year I feel.
The Vanus Temple was created in May and was up and running on May 30th, since then I’ve made 258 posts (this ones the 259th), had a whopping 108,541 visitors in the 6 months!
I started the year of 2009 not really into the hobby that much, I visited a few forums now and then and read the news but didn’t really buy many models, however around that time I decided to try and get back into it by purchasing my World eaters. Again they were mostly ignored as University got in the way.
In May I joined a forum Challenge to paint a 1500pt army in the shortest time, I chose Deathwing as my force, being a bit fed up of power armour and not wanting to follow the tide of Orks etc.
This turned into a bit of an obsession…
My collection of terminators has grown incredibly large in 6 months.. I can’t calculate how many I own without getting them all out and cataloguing them!
My Deathwing have served me well since their creation, they’ve been to two tournaments this year and won two Best Painted Army Awards as well as the National Army Painting thing run by GW in the summer.
My main weakness is keeping focussed. I have so many wonderful (to me) ideas going through my head all the time, a lot of them I do start, get the models for.
Then I get distracted by another wonderful idea!
2009 has been good, but I’ve wasted too much money on projects I wont complete.
2010 I will try and be different, I have commission projects now, so have to work out my hobby time more efficiently than just sitting here refreshing my email!
I plan to sell of all those models that I don’t think I’ll use/finish/need. I have too many models to cart around now and need to focus on my projects.
I’ll also limit myself with a Hobby Fund, this way I wont spend all my much needed food money on plastic. A lot of people will say “Who needs food when you have models?!”
I do.
So, aims for 2010 are:
– Sell spare models, make cash for the new Hobby Fund.
– Models to be sold: SH 1st edition, World Eaters, spare excess terminators and tyranids.
– Keep focussed on one or two projects at a time (I like to have a background project, like the Night Gobbos)
– Photograph more games (now I have a camera, no excuse)
– More Battle Reports
– Update Terminator Tomb with photos of model components, sprues etc
– Manage time better
– Play more games!
– Enter more tournaments
– Improve skills and
– Write tutorials!
2010 will be a good year my friends.
Here are a selection of my favourite photos from the last 6 months!
