Vapnartak Tournament!

This weekend I’ll be attending the Vapnartak tournament, it’s a small 1000pt tournament with some restrictions on the Force Org-chart, but nothing that changes my army list luckily!
It’s supposed to be a fun tournament, hence the restrictions.
It’s also supposed to be a fast tournament, we only have 80 minutes for each game instead of the usual 2 hours. This is no problem at all to me… I only have 2 units, a Land Raider and a Dreadnought.

Here’s the pictures I tookof my last 1k army, this is my standard army for this level. I occasionally use a different list but this is my well tested army that’s done well in plenty of games.

I had a practice game last night against Tyranids (again, but a different person). Last week I ploughed into them and took them all on in combat, this week, because of the list, I decided to play a game of “cat and mouse”, making hit and run tactics on his units then retreating to the safety of my lines. My opponent had a Swarm Lord with a Tyrant Guard retinue, there was no way I was going near that thing, so I stayed as far away as possible whilst taking out his other units. There were also three Zonathropes, and boy are they nasty.. s10 ap1 lance weapon?! Luckily (and unluckily for my opponent) he didn’t do anything to my LR despite getting three shots at her. Also they’re a total pain to take down, I shot every weapon at them, and it took my two turn to take two wounds and down it. I guess that was just luck on his side.. which he needed after his powers failed to blast a whole in my LR.
Overall it was 5 or 6 killpoints to zero, so an excellent victory for the Deathwing!

This weekend we have 4 games, one of each of the standard missions/deployments, then the old “Cleanse” mission (table quarters).
I feel I shall struggle most with games 1 and 4 (seize ground and cleanse) as I simply don’t have enough units. There are also bonus points for other events that happen, such as killing the most expensive model, or HQ etc.
Overall I think it’ll be a fantastic weekend and I’m looking forward to it!
Also it’ll be the last tournament for my current Deathwing army before they go to their new home, so this makes the event special too!
