Give Them Nothing! But Take From Them Everything! Ravenwing 1500pts

Here I am again with another army list for everyone to judge!

This army works on elimination of a target and thus losing little in return, as in theory the target should be obliterated beyond hope of getting a counter attack.
Naturally this tactic isn’t 100% reliable, but it is to an extent.

My previous RW lists worked on an almost suicidal tactic of ramming as many Melta guns down my enemies throats as possible. Now the main problem with Melta guns is the short range.. and to be totally effective they need to be within 6″. That’s not really where I want my bikers to be!

Also more of a “I get what I want” list than a tournament list, I’ve decided to use models which I deem as being cool. So the Librarian is in the list all because I like the model I converted. I’ve also given him a Plasma pistol to make up for his poor powers.

I’ve included lots of plasma weapons in this army. The command squad teamed up with the Librarian can throw out 6 plasma shots at 12″. Now I know plasma isn’t the most reliable of weapons in the game, but hopefully with the Apothecary around I can ignore the worst of it!
After play testing, if I feel that there’s TOO much plasma I’ll swap back to meltas or flamers on the second squad, they’re tooled out similar to the command squad, but where the command squad can handle close combat (+1 attack from banner) this squad is a little squishier. They’ll probably stick close to the command squad to benefit from the apothecary too.
The third squad follows my previous idea of almost suicidal tank hunting. This squad will be split into a combat squad of 3 bikes each with a melta gun, each squad will tag along with an attack bike to provide some cover as well as fire support.
The two Land speeders will fly around with Sammy, that’s three assault cannons and 3 heavy bolters (sammys is twin linked and Bs5 too remember). They’ll be using Sammy’s speeder as cover whilst Sammy uses his high armour as protection.

The best thing about this army is the speed. All the bikes get a Scout move (except the Libby) so can outflank if necessary, or just get closer. This army can out-eldar an eldar army, it’s tougher, more shooty and fearless.
Also the speeders count as scoring despite being vehicles, all thanks to the old Dark Angels Codex! Meaning in objectives you need to kill every last bike, attack bike and speeder in hope of keeping your objectives safe!
Ravenwing may look as they’re falling back, but really they’re just circling you…

I like it, but then i get a FNP roll against plasma weapons blowing up in my hand 😉 how many plasma shots per turn when in rapid fire range? About ten? thats likely two gets hot rolls of one per turn….risky, but fun 🙂
I like the tactical plan though, very much. And your right, having to get that close with melta guns just means a canny opponent will be waiting to ambush your bikes. Either way i think the play testing will be fun fun fun, and promise me you will out eldar and eldar army!! 🙂
