Quick Cheap Ruins for Gaming

I wanted some cool looking ruins for my Gaming board. As the board would primarily be used for Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit SBG I didn’t want sci-fi ruins so I instead opted for this MDF set available here (or here is a link to the store, Wargames Tournaments):

I also ordered some kidney shaped bases for them to stand on, which isn’t necessary but I thought it looked better.
Where this set is better than others is the double sided design. This is effectively two pieces of the MDF you glue together to get a thicker piece with brickwork on both sides. I used bog standard PVA glue to glue them together and added some sand and rubble to the bases before spraying them grey with the airbrush. I sprayed each brick with a bit of white and then added some dust with weathering powder, brushing it downwards from the cracks to add a weathered look. Finally the bases were sprayed Skrag brown and grass added. Really simple, cheap and effective!

  • Knight of Infinite Resignation

I have this set, and some of the bigger buildings from the same company, they are really good. They take a long time to put together, but recently they released some very simple big buildings even cheaper than the old ones which would be great for anyone who needs terrain in a hurry, like an event organiser.
